Does God let things happen to you? I was reading a book where a person asked, “Where was God when I was being abused as a child?”
Isn’t God all knowing, all seeing, and all powerful? Then how could he let this happen to an innocent child. Well the answer she was given was, “I don’t know.”
The spiritual realm is a mystery to us all. No one has all the answers, except God. This is a question that many people ask. Why God? I know that for myself, I sometimes see glimpses of the spiritual realm. Some people say that they can see angels and demons. Some can see ghosts. Some people get glimpses into the future, through dreams and visions. Why are we given only glimpses of the spiritual realm. I want to know the “protocols” that will allow me to get answers to my questions or prayers. I want to know what demons or angels are doing as well. I want to know what is in store for me in the future. But alas, it doesn’t seem to work that way.
One thing I do know is that God did not do that to the child. It was evil, the devil or Satan, but it certainly was not God. The evil things people do come from wicked things in high places and their own decision whether to do those evil things or not. We shouldn’t blame God for those evil acts. Why God doesn’t immediately stop or destroy these forces is something we all contemplate. People do evil things. And there is the spiritual dimension, where demonic forces tempt people to do evil things. They can overcome hearts that are tainted with evil and cause them to do unimaginable wicked things. They can come into someone’s trauma to torment them. Unchecked these evil people and beings continue their evil deeds and ways. So, once again, where are you God?
Or is it man’s duty to do what is good and just to keep these things out of their hearts and lives. Parents should protect their children and raise them up in the ways of the Lord, but what if they have parents who do evil things? Will God protect the children?
Faith is required in these situations. God wants us to trust in him in all matters and situations. The question is still unanswered of why bad things happen to good people. I know that some people give up on believing in God when things don’t go the way they expect. Jesus had many of his disciples walk away when he said some difficult things to them. Perseverance, long suffering, patience, are all things mentioned in the Bible that leads to a good outcome. Sometimes it takes years, decades, even centuries before God’s word came to pass in the Bible.
James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, a whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Our perseverance is often for our transformation, when we experience difficulties in our life. I know that when we are going through it though it hurts, and we want the storm to pass as quickly as possible.
God is looking for faith in the storms, in the hard places in life. I have been pondering the scripture where Joseph says to his brothers, “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” Genesis 50:20 KJV
I struggled with this for a while thinking that it couldn’t mean that God would allow bad things to happen to someone so that it would bring about good for many. But no matter how I looked at it that is what it said. So God does allow us to go through trials or bad things that may be for the good of many.
Still, God allows us to have a will of our own. Is it to see if we would do good or evil? Why doesn’t God just intervene in every unpleasant or unjust circumstance. Maybe he wants to see the condition of our hearts. He wants to see if we will choose to do good on our own. Loving someone isn’t love if you are forced to love them. Saying sorry to someone isn’t being sorry if you are forced to say sorry. And perhaps this life isn’t the end, it could be the beginning. The trial run for us to see how we are going to do in eternity.
What choices are you making when no one is looking? God sees it all. God sees our hearts. Do we really believe that God is real if we make wrong moral choices in secret? Maybe, God lets things happen because he wants to know our hearts. He wants to see who we are inside. There are still unanswered questions, and we all need a Savior, Yeshua.
There is still a way back through forgiveness. And what about the little girl who needed God? She didn’t do anything wrong, perhaps her parents as her guardians allowed evil into their lives. God did heal her soul from the trauma that she went through. I believe that true love, the powerful love of God can heal us all.
Lord,
I pray for protection over families, parents, and children. I ask that your angels guard their homes and destroy any demonic forces and evil. I pray for parents to pray for their children every night, that you will be there to save them and keep them from harm. I pray for healing for those who have gone through tremendous hardships and pain because of the evil deeds of others.
Lord, I pray that we will make good moral choices because we love you, not because we have to. We want to please you with the life that we live. Help us to make good choices. Give us faith as we go through the trials. Perseverance and a right heart to endure the trials so that we can be transformed in a godly way. Help us to live God honoring lives. Protect us from evil. Thank you, Yeshua, amen.
