I heard someone asking a question about why someone should believe in a God that sends people to hell.

2 Peter 3:9:

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Ezekiel 33:11:

“Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’”

 Timothy 2:3-4 states:

“This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

His answer was something like this; that we have a choice to live with God for eternity or to separate ourselves from God and go to Hell.

Yes, we do have choices, but it isn’t that we are meant to be apart from God. There are many reasons that we are separated from Him. It is the lack of knowledge of His love that mainly separates us from God. We haven’t been taught how His love and kindness are meant for our benefit. There is so much to say about the love of God. He wants us to have great lives, full of love and abundance. Still, because of evil in the world, many people have forgotten or have been drawn away from this love.

The evil ones in the world want people to fail to find God and his love. These entities often incarnated into mankind, AND will do everything in their power to keep you from the love of God. Why? Because they are already destined for Hell and they want you to fall with them out of spite for you and God.

God does not want people to go to hell. The temptation to sin and to go against the moral laws of God is what sends people to hell. Many people perish because they lack understanding. Some people believe that they can do whatever they want and have no consequences. Some believe that there is no life after death. We die and that’s it our souls do not exist any longer. But the Bible tells us that there is life beyond the grave. That our mortal bodies die but our souls our spirits live on.

The consequences of sin are more than death. We’ll explore this as we go deeper into this topic in later blogs.

Lord, thank you that you sent us a Savior that gives us a way out from the consequences of sin that lead to hell. I pray that all will come to the knowledge of Christ Jesus. He is the only way to heaven because he was the sacrifice that atoned for our sins. He suffered and died on the cross so that we could be reconciled to God. I pray that people will understand that you made a way for us to be free from the law of sin and death. Thank you for your mercy and grace. Amen.
