1 John 4:1-3 from the King James Version (KJV):
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
There are false prophets and false churches in the world today. Just as it was during the time of the original apostles. False teachings and doctrines are leading people astray. Some of these false churches are trying to conform to what is popular in modern culture rather than focus on the truth and principles of God’s word.
There are many people on social media stating that Jesus is not of God or casting doubts about Jesus being the Son of God. The biggest weapon in the devil’s arsenal is to make the believer doubt. To subtly challenge you as to your beliefs about God and Jesus the Christ. Satan, the dragon, evil, whatever you want to call it is constantly trying to cast doubts on your salvation, on your Savior, and on God. He wants you to believe in anything else but the power that stands in his way to corrupt the world and the children of God.
Stand firm in your faith. God doesn’t want you to bow down to or worship Satan. Satan, out of pride, greed, or envy, even tried to tempt Jesus by telling Him that he would share in the riches of the world;
Matthew 4:8-10, “Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
Focus on Christ. Be like the Bereans who verified the words of the apostle Paul.
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV): And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
The Bereans were praised for their diligence in comparing the teachings of Paul and Silas against the Scriptures to confirm their truth. Verify and mediate on the teachings. Ask the Holy Spirit, He wants to lead you into all truth.
